So as some of you make know... I am looking to make lots of beer. like 300 gallons a month. Anyway I live in south america, and wet yeast is really hard to get down here, essentially i have to have friends courier it.

So my questions, is you can only reuse yeast 2-3 times right? How do labs make yeast? Is there an intro article into this? Is it really hard / expensive? I would like to consider taking it up a level as right now i have to pay 300% the cost on yeast.... and its getting pricy?

I have done some googling and cant seem to find a good foundational article. If someoe can point me in the right direction, I would be greatful!

No. There are breweries that, with careful attention, have been reusing for years.

The book linked to above is your best bet.

Kal

I regularly ask craft breweries how many times they repitch yeast, and the general answer is 7-15 times. That's a fairly big range, but a lot more than 2-3. Factors that go into it are how sanitary you are, how frequently you repitch vs. letting the yeast site idle, and even the strain of yeast.

That's straight repitching. Read a good book or two and set up a lab, maybe hire a chemist, and you're good for years as Kal mentions.
