|
|
I've been thinking about opening up a brew on premises business and love the idea of using electric to heat up the kettles quickly and efficiently, however I'm confused as to how this could be done using LME. How are you able to get a paddle in the kettle and stir up the LME? Has anyone out there set up an electric brewery for malt extract brewing and if so, could you please help me? I was hoping to start up a small brew on premises company, with about 3-5 brewing stations using electric heating elements.
Thanks,
Max

You could do malt extract by bringing to a boil and then adding it slowly. Probably wouldn't need to stir at all. Let the boiling do the stirring.
The Bitters & Esters Brew on Premises shop in Brooklyn has done 100's of batches like this using our setup:

Ive done it and did exactly that, warmed the dme up to a liquid and poured in slowly while stirring with a stainless spoon fast, never had a chance to hit the bottom, beer turned out much better than I expected
