I love seeing your control panel on the kitchen island. My wife was very patient with me converting our kitchen table into a "lab bench".

HA! I guess that's why she's still married... I stopped brewing when I got married since the EX didn't like the smell.... SO now that I'm single again seems I can do what I want in my house...

Getting an oral error.... I swapped it to each PID and they can read it... guess I need to actually attach it to the different probes so I can tell if it's the wire.... not sure why I didn't think of that sooner.

Yup... I swapped the two wires around and everything looks fine... I'll bet my neighbors were wondering why hot water was running down my driveway into the street...
I need to read up on how to used the timer and pid's and then do the autotune.

It's a temporary setup until I get a sink plumbed in the basement.

So... I brewed my first batch yesterday!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEO9bssDjVo
Everything seemed to go without a hitch and this is the first time I brewed in 18 years!
Now... to work on the basement...

Well... after brewing a batch of ESB, Two Hearted and Janet's Brown I finally realized that the timer would work better counting down (it was counting up and I had to make notes when to do the additions to the boil) so I just read the setup instructions all the way through for the time... not sure why I stopped after turning on the timer alarm but hmmm.... I realized that I could set it to count down, show minutes AND seconds (I had it showing only minutes), remember where it was in the event of a power loss... oh well... worked just fine the other way but these setting (along with the others) are definitely a plus...
Cheers!

So... the Bell's Two Hearted took forever to go from the BK to the Carboy so I've added one of these fancy hop spiders and cannot wait to try it out. Are there any real CONS in using one of these? It's 6" in diameter and 19" deep and it's in my 20 gallon BK.

no draw back that I have experienced. I use a 8 in diameter and use a second one for flame out hops with a hop back set up in cleaned mash ton. Love it and would never go back to the hop stopper (sorry, no offense to those who love it, I didn't)
