Water: A Comprehensive Guide for Brewers [Paperback]

Canadians: You may order from Amazon.ca right here and support us as well - Thank you!

The book that I've been patiently waiting for is now available for pre-order! Release date is unknown, but pre-ordering means you're guaranteed the lowest price between the time you ordered and the time it ships, even if the price goes back up.

Description:

Quote:
Water is an essential component for staying alive and one of the foundation elements in the brewing process. Written by How to Brew author John Palmer and professional brewer, Colin Kaminski, this second book in Brewers Publications’ Brewing Elements Series, Water, will take the mystery out of using water in brewing beer. Beginning with an overview on sources, quality and geography, this book will lead brewers through water’s role in the brewing process, including how to read water reports, troubleshooting, its flavor contributions and the treatment and chemistry of brewing water. A discussion of adjusting water to styles of beer, residual alkalinity, waste water treatment and research on malt color and pH are included.

John Palmer's How to Brew book is considered today's bible on brewing so it'll be interesting to get in-depth detail on water from him as well. (How to Brew's water coverage is somewhat lacking and overly complex).

Colin Kaminski started homebrewing in 1996 with a girlfriend who had a fermentation science degree from UC Davis. Within a few months, he was volunteering at local breweries to have a place to practice the concepts he had been reading about. Brian Hunt (Moonlight Brewing) recommended DeClerk’s classic brewing text. Colin quickly realized that homebrewing equipment and concepts were not up to the task of making world class beer. He contacted the fledgling company, Beer, Beer and More Beer about buying malt and in an evening quickly created a bond that would last seven years and result in the design of over 180 products as project designer. When Downtown Joe's Brewpub (Napa, California) needed a new brewmaster, Colin was a logical choice; he had guest brewed about 50 batches over the previous five years. He started as brewmaster in 2002. Since then he has brewed more than 700 batches of ale.

I just realized the ship date is April 2013! Patience is a virtue, I guess.

The date's been all over the place. Last I heard was that late summer or fall 2012 was the ship date.

Mine's on the truck for delivery today. I do believe this is the longest pre-order to delivery date I've ever experienced for anything...

Yup! Me too. I had pre-ordered it back in Sept 2012.
