|

I have to lengthen the the wire for the RTD probes to reach my panel. Anyone know off the top of their head what size wire they use?

II would guess around 20-22 gauge, just get 18-20 to be safe.

just a thought, maybe you could use an XLR extender?
I did something similar with my pumps. The 230v march 809s come only with 3ft of cable. I'm using IEC connectors, and rather than try to extend the cable, I put a IEC connector on the end, and used an IEC extender.

Can anyone confirm is the wire size spec'd is correct and if the xlr extender will work. I have to do the same thing.

IEC extended is an idea. For the the pumps I just cut up a 16/3 extension cord and used butt terminals to make the connections. Heat shrinked it to protect it. I don't see why the XLR extender wouldn't work. Seems a little pricey compared to splicing it up yourself though.

I really doubt there is much current on those wires, so 18-22 is probably fine. Bigger is always safer.

The current to/from the probes is also being carried by wires inside the CP, which Kal specs as 22-24 gauge. So you could make up your own extender using 24 gauge cable (e.g. some cat 5 network cable) and the XLR male/female ends.
