Guys want some opinions. Just finished wrestling with the coil and after weeks of stop and go and one coil sacrificed, I have a coil that is 16 " diameter at the bottom. Widens out to 17" and then back to 16". Is it a problem that most of the coil will be against the kettle walls? Does it decrease the efficiency enough to go through recouping and zip tying to get a smaller diameter? This thing is killing me. I would gladly pay $150 for a perfect coil. He'll I am in it $160 and endless suffering. Thanks all.

I would probably use it as is, especially if you previously had problems. While it would be best to have water flowing around it on all sides It'll likely work fine especially if it's a 50 foot long coil (like in my design). There's lots of length to pick up any heat you need.

Go have a beer and congratulate yourself! Wink

FWIW, I do want to offer these coils up for sale too - they seem to be one of the things that people have having issues with the most (after the control panel).

Kal, get your Uncle Spike (aka Mike) to make these pups. Hell, I'll put an order in if you offer them!

Laughing its on my list to do. Big ticket items are up first like the control panel, but this will be soon to follow.

If/when you do start offering up the coils on this site, do you think you would offer different sizes? Perhaps one for a 10 gal kettle? Smile
