On most of the wiring diagrams in Kal's writeup show components as you would see them looking at them. So boil kettle relay on the left inside the box and boil kettle PID on right on inside of door. So when the door is closed they are both on the same side. This make the wiring easier to look at.

On Control Box 2 on wiring up the heating element, are the power wires from the boil kettle and HLT relays reversed at the heating element switch?

Yes I think you're correct..

When I wired mine I paid particular attention to do one section at a time and kept opening and closing the cover to keep my orientation correct. Easy to fix though, just switch the wires at the switch if they're incorrect.

Good catch. I'll reverse the wiring on the switch just to make it 100% clear.
